Drexel Parallel series Drawer Pull Knobs

Previously we’ve covered the Drexel Declaration series drawer pull knobs and where you might find the white ceramic spherical replacement knobs.  Recently I had the pleasure to work with a reader who needed replacement pulls for a Drexel Parallel series desk drawer.  There are several different designs of this desk, each one being beautiful.

In doing some research, it appears that a designer by the name of Barney Flagg designed some of the Drexel Parallel pieces in the 1950’s.  The desks are listed as being made of walnut.  Here are a couple of links if you’d like to do some reading about Drexel in your spare time: About Drexel HeritageNorth Carolina History Project: Drexel Furniture Company.

It was interesting that the same pull knobs were also used on the Drexel Parallel nightstands and coffee tables.

Fortunately, one original drawer pull made it through the past 50-60 years and the desk owner was able to send me the original to make a new set for the Parallel Desk on my lathe duplicator.  The current day brass fittings aren’t exactly the same as the original, but they are close, and since all the drawer pulls were being replaced, it didn’t matter.  You can see in the photo below, the 4 new knobs are on the left and the original knob on the right.

  1. Hi,
The timing of your post is perfect for me. I too just bought this exact Drexel desk and I am in search of replacement drawer pulls — precisely the ones you made here. If you are interested, could you please email me about doing the same for me?

    Thank you!

  2. Hi there, I too am looking for a set of 4 drawer pulls. Your replicas look great! Could you get in touch via email and let me know how much it would cost for four new drawer pull knobs?

    Thanks very much! – Eric

  3. Hi, I recently acquired a Drexel Parallel desk and need these 4 same pulls. The handles on mine are not original and I need something more period correct. If you could please email me a quote. Thank you.

  5. I too, like everyone above, am in need of another Drexel Parallel pull on a set of end tables recently purchased. Are you still making them and can I get a quote on one??

  6. Wow… Have just bought a pair of parallel tables with the floating glass top. I am missing one pole. Would you have an extra replacement? Or I would also be interested in a set of four. I love them and would hate to replace them with something different.
    Can you please help:

    Thank you,
    JT

    1. Hi Jose,
I would need a photo to see the pole you are referring to. I can duplicate most wooden components exactly if I have a master to copy from. I will be in touch via email.
      Regards, Retro

      1. Cool… Thanks for getting back so fast. The pull is the one you have pictured in your blog as attached below.

  7. Hi,
I just purchased a parallel bedside table with the glass top. I would need 2 like the ones you have shown in your photos. Do you still make these?

    Thank so much,
    Candie

    1. Hi, Candie, so sorry for the year long delay. I doubt you still need these, but, I could look. My husband passed away, and I have not looked at the site at all. Apologies.
